Our Story

I started Shukily because I was tired of how hard it was to find handmade pieces in Israel.

I wanted something personal — a ceramic bowl, a hand-dyed textile, something made with care by someone local. But finding these makers meant digging through Facebook groups, tracking down WhatsApp threads, hoping to catch them at markets, or trying to navigate complicated websites.

If it was this hard for me — someone actively looking — what about everyone else?

Then I started talking to the makers themselves, and I realized something.

These artists weren’t struggling because they lacked talent or passion. They had both in abundance. They were pouring themselves into their craft — perfecting techniques, creating work that carried real meaning. What they wanted most was to create. That’s where their energy belonged.

But their work was getting lost. Buried in the noise of global platforms. Hidden in small studios only locals knew about. Limited to whoever happened to walk by their booth at a market.

The infrastructure simply didn’t exist to connect their work with the people who would genuinely value it. Reliable local shipping. Payment systems that worked in Israel. Bilingual support. A way to reach audiences across the country without sacrificing time at the wheel, the loom, or the workbench.

That’s when it clicked — we needed a central hub built specifically for this. Not another global marketplace where local makers get lost in the noise, but a place that could cut through all of that and bring their work directly to people who care.

So we built Shukily. A curated space where discovering Israeli makers is easy. Where their craft gets the visibility it deserves. Where you can buy something beautiful and, if you want, meet the person who made it — through workshops, studio visits, and hands-on experiences.

I believe the best things come from real people, not mass production. Every piece you’ll find here is handmade by artists who pour their heart into what they create.

And when you bring something into your home that was built by someone with care, it means more. It tells a story. It connects you to a person, a tradition, a moment in time. That’s what we’re trying to preserve.

Because when makers can truly sustain themselves through their craft, something bigger happens. Skills get passed down instead of forgotten. Traditions survive. Communities form around studios and workshops. People rediscover what it means to own something meaningful.

That’s what we’re building with Shukily — a place where you can discover a ceramicist in Jerusalem, take their workshop in Tel Aviv, and bring their work into your home. Where a textile artist in Haifa can reach someone in Eilat without leaving their studio. Where makers can focus on what they love, and their work finds the people who will treasure it.

That’s why Shukily exists.
